The online and document (e.g. PDF) accessibility needs of those who have limited or no vision is an increasingly prevalent issue today. With over 285 million individuals globally with some form of visual impairment, and with that number expected to double by 2030, governments worldwide, including the US, Canadian and Eurasian governments, have passed legislation demanding online and document accessibility for the public sector, with private sector enforcement not far on the horizon. The OpenText™ Automated Output Accessibility solution:
- Automates the generation of WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliant PDF/UA documents for high-volume documents e.g. customer statements, bills, notifications, explanation of benefits, etc.
- The Large Print Module quickly and cost-effectively transforms and lays out content in large print format for easier access by low-vision readers
- Enables organizations to achieve regulatory compliance for global accessibility legislation as Section 508, Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and others
- Enables transforming print streams and PDFs on-the-fly into accessible formats and makes them available on-demand on websites or customer portals
- Delivers significant cost and time savings compared to traditional manual accessibility processes
- Improves customer loyalty and retention for a rapidly growing segment of visually impaired individuals
- Provides an opportunity for governments and organizations to create an inclusionary environment for individuals of all abilities
